    Why We Are Humanist

We are a group of students who proudly identify as humanists because we believe in the inherent dignity, value, and potential of every human being. In a world often divided by borders, belief systems, and inequality, we choose to see humanity as one global family, bound by shared struggles and hopes.

Humanism, to us, is not just a philosophy it is a way of living that guides our actions and aspirations as atheist since we don't believe in any God. We believe that human beings, using reason, empathy, and cooperation, have the power to create a better world. In Chad, where access to education, healthcare, and opportunity is still a challenge for many, we see humanism as both a personal commitment and a collective responsibility.

Being humanist means putting people first always. It means rejecting indifference and embracing humanity in all its diversity and dignity. We are humanists because we want to be part of a global movement that uplifts, empowers, and connects.

In our daily lives, in our studies, and in our activism, we live out the values of humanism not only because they reflect who we are, but because they reflect the world we want to build.

Purpose of the group

The Humanist group at Université Adam Barka d’Abéché (UNABA) in Chad is dedicated to promoting humanist values such as atheism, science  reason, ethics, and human rights within the university community. The group's primary mission is to encourage rational discourse, ethical behavior, and the application of humanist principles in addressing societal challenges. This involves advocating for education that emphasizes critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and the well-being of all individuals.

We plan to have a critical thinking workshop, Computer literacy workshop, humanist library and probably a humanist cafe where every humanists or person can socialize and have a sense of belonging. As for sustainability, we can do : Campus-based printing and photocopying service, Eco-friendly tote bags and T shirt printing (with humanist message), mobile phone charging station, small organic or urban farming project.
