Project Execution Report: Mosquito Net and Repellent Distribution to Humanist Survivors in Mozambique
Project Title: "Protecting Humanist Survivors from Mosquito-Borne Diseases"
Location: Mozambique
Date: October 1-15, 2024
Objective:
To distribute essential mosquito prevention items to 50 families of humanist survivors in Mozambique, promoting health, well-being, and protection against mosquito-borne diseases.
Background:
Humanist survivors in Mozambique face significant health risks due to mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue fever, and chikungunya. This project aimed to mitigate these risks by providing effective prevention measures.
Project Activities:
Needs Assessment: Conducted a thorough needs assessment to identify beneficiary families and determine the required materials.
Procurement: Sourced high-quality mosquito nets, ointment repellants, safe organic insecticides, and cream repellants.
Distribution: Organized a systematic distribution process, ensuring each family received:
2 mosquito nets
1 ointment repellent (100ml)
1 safe organic insecticide (500ml)
1 cream repellent (50ml)
Community Engagement: Conducted awareness sessions on proper usage, maintenance, and benefits of distributed items.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Tracked distribution, monitored usage, and collected feedback.
Project Outputs:
50 families received mosquito prevention items
100 mosquito nets distributed
50 ointment repellents, 50 safe organic insecticides, and 50 cream repellents distributed
100% of beneficiaries reported increased awareness and understanding of mosquito-borne disease prevention
Challenges:
Logistics: Transportation challenges due to rural terrain
Language barriers: Required local interpreters for community engagement
Resource constraints: Limited budget for additional items
Lessons Learned:
Community engagement is crucial for effective project implementation
Local partnerships facilitate smoother logistics
Regular monitoring ensures optimal resource utilization
Conclusion:
The project successfully distributed essential mosquito prevention items to 50 humanist survivor families in Mozambique. Beneficiaries demonstrated increased awareness and adoption of prevention measures. Future projects should prioritize community engagement, local partnerships, and robust monitoring.
Recommendations:
Expand distribution to additional families
Integrate mosquito-borne disease education into school curricula
Establish local partnerships for sustainable project continuity
