What does humanism mean to your group?
I (Sarafina - the director) became a humanist by self discovery. I was tired of the constant self pity that came with being religious. I have ailing health and I am constantly reminded that God is good. It didn't make sense to me but I understood that sickness and ailments are natural phenomena and only the efforts of scientists can give me hope. Humanism to me is a consciousness that one must attain when they understand the genius of the human mind and fully understand that The human experience gave us everything beautiful that we now see in our world.
Project Description
Mind2Love Secular Orphanage in Liberia provides a safe and nurturing environment for orphaned children, offering care, education, and a pathway toward a brighter future. To sustain its operations and ensure the well-being of its residents, the orphanage operates a grocery and fish shop, which generates vital proceeds for daily operations and community support. However, the current reliance on traditional energy sources for refrigeration and other operational needs has been costly and inefficient, limiting the potential of the business and the orphanage’s long-term sustainability.
To address this issue, we propose the installation of a solar energy system that would provide reliable, clean energy to the grocery and fish shop. The $300 budget will be used to purchase and install the necessary solar panels and equipment to meet the energy needs of the shop, reducing electricity costs and promoting environmental sustainability.
The installation of a solar energy system at the Mind2Love Secular Orphanage will significantly enhance the sustainability of their grocery and fish shop, enabling the orphanage to thrive and continue providing care and support to the children in its care. With a modest investment of $300, we can create a lasting impact on the orphanage’s financial and environmental sustainability. We kindly request your support in making this project a reality.
