When and why did your group become humanist?

We are humanist because humanism, secular ideas and humanism were at the forefront of fighting for women emancipation, rights and freedom. In a full patriarchy society like Benin, the woman and her future is imprisoned by religion and cultures. Everything about our Christian faith and Benin culture does not mean well for women and girls. And it is important to shun every aspect of human ideas that do not repeat the rights of women. For this reason we are not  Christian, we believe in women's rights and we believe that every woman, when given the right education and training can reach greater heights.

Location - Ouidah, Benin Republic

Project Description

This proposal outlines a plan to train ten humanist women in Ouidah, Benin Republic in the art of resin epoxy. With a budget of $300, the training will cover the creation of various items such as combs, key holders, cups, storage boxes, rings, jewelry, and pens. The project aims to empower these women with skills that will enable them to create and sell resin epoxy products, thereby fostering economic independence and enhancing their creative capabilities. Additionally, a portion of the resin epoxy and hardener will be provided to the participants to support their initial production efforts. The training will cover the following areas:

● Introduction to Resin Epoxy Art: Basic concepts, safety protocols, and understanding materials.

● Techniques and Tools: Hands-on practice with mixing, pouring, and setting resin epoxy. Training on the use of molds, pigments, and other tools.

● Product Creation: Step-by-step guidance in making specific items including combs, key holders, cups, storage boxes, rings, jewelry, and pens.

● Finishing and Quality Control: Techniques for finishing products, including sanding, polishing, and quality assurance.

● Marketing and Sales: Basic strategies for marketing products, pricing, and setting up sales channels.

This training program aims to empower women in Ouidah with the skills needed to excel in resin epoxy art. By investing in their education and providing initial materials, we can foster economic growth and creativity within the community. Your support of this initiative will make a significant impact on these women’s lives and contribute to their financial and personal development.
